it most through a charitable gift to the Major Hospital Foundation.

Patient fees alone do not cover the cost of care at any not-for-profit hospital like Major, so the Major Hospital Foundation was created specifically to help support the Hospital and our patients.

Your charitable gift through the Foundation can help Major Hospital maintain and increase its excellence in technology, facilities and programs and to meet the challenges of today's healthcare environment. YOU can make the difference!

A Major Good Time was had by All!
2009 Gala Event a Great Success

The 2009 Major Hospital Foundation gala took place on March 28 at Indiana Downs. The gala’s theme was “Shall We Dance?” and featured dinner, dancing, a raffle, a silent auction, and live music by featured guest musicians Eric Schneider and Wycliffe Gordon accompanied by the Gust Spenos Quartet. Schneider and Gordon played with the Gust Spenos Quartet on “Swing Theory,” a jazz CD produced to benefit the Foundation in 2007. Vocalist Everett Greene, a huge crowd favorite who performed the vocals on the CD and at the 2007 gala, also performed this year, much to the delight of the crowd.

Healing Garden Ribbon Cutting is June 23

The ribbon is about to be cut on the long-awaited Healing Garden at Benesse Oncology Center!

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting and to browse the garden. Guests should gather in the Medical Arts Conference Room located in the Benesse Center. If you plan to attend, enter Benesse through the revolving doors on the east side of the building starting at 5:30. At 5:45, the group gathered will be organized to head outside to have the dedication and ribbon cutting.

Those attending will enter the garden through doors leading to it from the medical oncology side of Benesse. They will be invited to imagine what it would be like to be a cancer patient who is entering the garden in search of a much-needed break in order to rest, recharge, and become rejuvenated in order to battle their illness. They will be reminded that the garden is more than landscaping and to consider, as they imagine being a patient, the care, compassion, and creativity that has gone into the garden’s construction in order to make it a component of patient care at Benesse. They will be encouraged to understand that the garden is a gift to cancer patients, their families, and their caregivers from the community and to consider the garden from this standpoint. We are confident that guests who do so will fully realize the value of the garden to healing, fulfilling the name of the funding campaign, “The Campaign for Beauty, Healing, and Hope.”

Contributions to the garden will continue to be accepted. Donors may do so on-line or through the U.S. Mail.

Please contact us if you’d like to:
  • Have a personal chat about the garden
  • Schedule a tour of the site

  • Just to ask questions
We’d love to speak with you about this exciting and worthwhile project.
