The second annual “Major Quality Cares”, the employee giving campaign for the Major Hospital Foundation, kicked off November 1, 2007 with a rousing $12,893 being pledged on that very first day!   The name of the campaign is a play on words using the name of Major Hospital and the hospital’s slogan, “Quality Care from Quality People”.  It’s also very accurate—Major’s employees—all throughout the enterprise and in every position—care for Major’s patients with quality.  The employee giving campaign is just another opportunity to do so and they embrace it whole-heartedly.  Case in point--they responded enthusiastically to the 2006 first ever campaign by pledging a total of $48,498.16!

The 2007 campaign wrapped up on November 30 with a grand total pledged of $27,163.44 (including some “late” pledges).  Now, this sounds like less was pledged this year than last, but actually, it’s MORE—23 percent more.  How can that be?  Well, last year, many employees made two-year pledges to the Healing Garden at Benesse Oncology Center.  Naturally, they are not going to pledge again until their first year’s pledge is paid in full.  So, if you subtract the $29,335.64 pledged to the Healing Garden in 2006 from the grand total pledged in 2006, $48,498.16, the total is $19,162.52.  To make a fair comparison, subtract the total pledged in 2007 to the Healing Garden, which is $3,641.28, from the total pledged of $27,163.44, the total is $23,522.16.  This is $4,369.64 more than last year, or 23 percent!  Here is a comparison of the total pledges to each mission area or fund:
